Philadelphia is home to best-in-class performing arts programs, such as the University of Pennsylvania's arts program. Not only do you get an Ivy League liberal arts education, you get to study theatre in the classroom and in the production process aided by faculty with stellar credentials. Next, there's the theatre program at Drexel, where you can study the academics and performance of your trade, or attend Drexel's programs in dance or music. The School of Theater Arts at the University of the Arts is geared more toward professional preparation, while the Temple Boyer College of Music and Dance is also a quality option.
The fantastic students coming out of these programs must land performing arts careers somewhere, right? And seeing as they're already in Philadelphia, it can't hurt to look around and see what's available. The performing arts industry in the Philadelphia metro area is anticipated to experience 11% growth through 2012, so that's good news for folks who wanna stick around after getting that fancy college degree!
